Starcrossed - Book Description as noted on Starcrossed on HarperTeen
How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

Hey thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteNew follower because I had been led to your blog form you following me on Twitter :)
Now if I were a demi-god, I would want my power to be invincibility or immune-something like Helen of Nantucket is and Achilles too somewhat. This is because then I'd be able to finally stand up to bullies, criminals, killers, murderers etc. to protect a vulnerable person (like I have been and am), without being killed by a gun or beaten to death. Too dark Braiden, too dark! But seriously that would be my power.

ReplyDeleteIf I were a demi-god I would want my power to be telekinesis. I don't know about you but I've always wanted to move objects with my mind. I'm sure a lot of kids back in the day - including myself - spent a good whole minute staring at an object and hoping we were gifted in levitating. hehe.

power: If I were a demigod I think I'd probably change the weather. Maybe with my emotions? when it rains, in real life, I'm always really sleepy. When it's sunny or snowing I get energetic.

If I had a demigod power it would be...hmm... invisibility. Sorry if anyone else said this. But if I were insivisible I would be able to sneak up on Lucas anytime ;) and could go anywhere in the world, which is pretty much one of my biggest wishes. Also I could find out what other people really think of me.
I follow the blog.
I have to say, I would soooo love to win this book. You don't know how much. I've tried and tried, but my luck is..
Which brings me to wish my luck was bigger sometimes lol.

If I were a demigod, I would be a spin-off of Apollo, the god of archery, prophecies, plague, and music along side other things. By this, I take that I would be able to fight as a master archer, know the future through prophecies, cure people of plagues and be able to play music to make people fall asleep. That would be so much fun!
I found this contest on twitter, by the way, and now I'm following your blog. I really hope I win! I've read so many great reviews of people who really enjoyed this book (:

If I was a demigod, I would LOVE to be able to feel and manipulate people's emotions. I'm a very empathic person anyway - When someone is upset, I'm upset for them. If I was able to cheer someone up when they were completely distraught, I could talk with them once they were calmer/happier, and try to work through the problems in their life. This would really make me happy, as I LOVE helping people, and I like seeing people happy.
I followed you ^-^

It's hard to decide what I would want my power to be if I was a demigod. But, if I have to choose I wouldn't mind seeing the future. I know it would be a burden, seeing flashes of unknown possibilities and all the horror that can be in the Future, but I think that looking forward and seeing all the ways life can change would be awesome. And, hopefully I'd be able to help people find a positive path in life.
I'm officially following you. And I hope you stop by Gilbert&Gomez to show support too. :D
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

Hmmm....I really would love teleportation since travel can be tough for me. But time travel would really be kind of amazing, too---though I think they might go together, no?
forgot to say I'm a blog follower :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome Giveaway! Thank you! I'm a new follower btw! =)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to see the past. I don't really want to see the future, because all the responsibilities (not being allowed to actually change something/or having to live with the consequences etc) wouldn't do me any good. But the past?
All the things you can learn from other peoples mistakes, all the things you could experience, without being in any real danger - except that I'd probably lose myself in the past.. But the ability to see a persons past? I mean, yes, it'd be hard to resist and not "spy", but.. sometimes you want to let people know something about yourself and you can't say it, because it's too hard to verbalize all of it. Especially the people I hang out with are like that.. It would make life simpler, really. :>
I'd also like to witch me some Sushi, but hey..

If I were a demigod, I'd want the ability of compulsion. Get people to do whatever I wanted them to do... It would solve quite a few problems for me, I guess. That is, if I had any serious ones. :)
If i was a demi-god i would like to see people's future and have premonitions :)
