Review: Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it. (Goodreads)

I always enjoy Jennifer Armentrout’s books, especially the Lux novel series. I really wanted to give this book a big 5 stars because I love the Lux novel series but I just cannot because of three reasons.

First, I was extremely sad about Dee and Katy’s friendship. I loved their friendship and it pretty much crashed and burned in this book. Dee turned to the dark side bitchiness that is Ash. I understand Dee’s frustration and sadness but there were times I wanted to go into the book and slap her in the face or at least shake her into reason and logic.

Dee: “Of course he would talk to her like nothing happened. They were BFFs” ughhh

GET OVER IT!! Katy was tricked, betrayed and tried to save you and Adam in the end.

Second, the book was a bit too predictable in some parts.

Third, was the very frustrating and predictable ending!!

HOWEVER, there were also very great things about this book and to simply put it DAEMON DAEMON DAEMON!! Opal was different from the first two book in terms of the additional action against the DOD. I liked how Katy was actually apart of the action instead of having daemon always saving her ass.

Overall, I would rate this book 4 stars, maybe 4.5 stars just because I love Daemon that much!!

    1. Just want to say thank you for writing this post. I pinned it awhile back and it really helped me launch my first self hosted blog. I seriously don’t think I would have found studiopress on my own and the previous themes I tried left me in I’m-having-trouble-coding tears. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
